Dear Readers, A CHS junior has been killed in a DUI crash on Carmel Valley Road -- and law enforcement says her 18-year-old friend was the driver. Mary Schley has the heartbreaking details. It's been closed by one slide or another since February 2017, but this week Highway 1 is finally open again all the way from Carmel to Cambria. Kelly Nix has that one. One of the city's oldest cabins may be about to collapse on its own, but the city's historic resources board doesn't think the owners should be allowed to tear it down. Mary Schley has the details. The Oregon woman miraculously found at the bottom of a Big Sur cliff last Friday is recovering in the hospital. Steve Dallas is the first of the candidates in the November election to qualify for the ballot. A new communications tower in Pebble Beach has gotten the go-ahead. The Monterey Bay Aquarium has increased its real estate holdings on Cannery Row. A massive illegal pot farm has been discovered -- and destroyed -- in Carmel Valley.
